Why I won’t watch Game Of Thrones leaked Episodes

I just finished watching GoT S7 Episode 4: Spoils of War and I can not stop thinking about how great this episode was, but I am going to talk about something else related to the series, unfortunately.

I am sure that each and every person on planet Earth is now aware that HBO was subject to a security breach earlier this week, allowing hackers to reportedly obtain 1.5 terabytes of stolen data from the company’s US servers. This, however, was not related to this episode leak. This latest episode has leaked from a distribution partner (Star India) and not as a direct result of the recent HBO security breach.

Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 leak

HBO has had to battle with Game of Thrones leaks a number of times in the past. The first four episodes of season 5 leaked online, thanks to advance screeners that are sent out to members of the press. A HBO subsidiary also released a season 6 episode a day early. HBO decided to scrap screeners for season 7, but that hasn’t stopped an episode leaking from a distribution partner.

I am utterly disgusted with people who are such awesome fans of the show. They did not think twice before clicking on the links (let alone the torrent links they regularly use to download the episodes illegally from) of the leaked episode and posting about every detail of how they liked or disliked the episode on social media. It is extremely disappointing how people who are so called “worshippers” of the series did not, even once, think of having a minimum amount of respect for the people who worked hard for days and nights to bring this episode to them. It did not once occur to the viewers that by watching the leaked episodes they are supporting the hacker(s) in their wonderful hacking adventure.

There might be further episodes that the hacker(s) will leak on the web. I will not be watching any of those. I would sincerely be waiting for the proper release date on the paid service that I use to watch GoT. It’s not because I am trying to show how honest I am or how I can afford a subscription. It is because the Game Of Thrones franchise has my complete support as their effort shows in their work. I am a proud supporter of #LegalGoT
